Using the Guild Wars Diagnostic Utility
Question
How do I use the Guild Wars Diagnostic utility?
Answer
Guild Wars has a built-in diagnostic utility. This test captures
computer and network diagnostic information from a variety of
sources and stores it in a text file. The Guild Wars Support Team
uses this information to locate network issues, detect system
configuration problems, and identify driver version problems. It
takes about a minute to run the diagnostic test.
We ask that if you are using a router, hub, or switch, to first
disconnect this device and connect directly to your modem before
running this utility. You may have to reboot your modem and/or
computer to reestablish your Internet connection.
If you are able to access the Guild Wars login screen, please run
the diagnostic via the following steps:
Launch Guild Wars.
Click on the Test My Computer link that is immediately below the
user name and password fields.
Allow the test to fully complete once it launches.
If you are unable to access the Guild Wars login screen, please run
the diagnostic via the following steps:
Click Start.
Click Run.
Click Browse and select your Gw.exe program. It will be in
"C:\Program Files\Guild Wars" by default. You can reach this through
"My Computer" > "Local Disk C:" > "Program Files" > "Guild Wars".
The Run window should now read:
"C:\Program Files\Guild Wars\Gw.exe"
Modify the line in the Run window to read:
"C:\Program Files\Guild Wars\Gw.exe" -diag
Press OK to run the test.
You will see a small window that gives the status of the testing.
Please wait for all of the tests to finish. When it is done, click
Close. The test will create a new file in your Guild Wars folder
(again, by default this is "C:\Program Files\Guild Wars") called
NetworkDiag.log. You can review this file yourself, or use the Ask a
Question feature to send the NetworkDiag.log file to Technical
Support as an attachment. . |
